Alternative way to upgrade wordpress to WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious”

Last week, WordPress have release WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious”. The problem I have found is that not all web server can perform the built in wordpress updater. In my case, the built-in updater hang after I enter all ftp credential and my blog is under maintenance mode for about 15 minutes. That why I come out with an idea to install using alternative ways but still easy to do the task of upgrading to wordpress 3.0.
Before you do anything to your wordpress, you must take safety precautions. In this case, you must backup all your web hosting information, my sql, and also home directory. I would recommend that you should backup whatever file and setting in your webhosting. For this purpose, you should be using cpanel, backup function. Below is the video that explain to you how to that in cpanel enabled web hosting.

After you have downloaded the backup file of your whole webhosting to your home computer, it is time to upgrade to WordPress 3.0. Please follow the step as I mention in video below to make sure that everything will be fine after upgrade to wordpress 3.0. Don’t worry; the step is pretty straight forward. Go to WPAU 1.25 to download the plug-in and then activate it. It the will notify you that your wordpress is available to upgrade. This plug-in can be used to upgrade any version of wordpress to the latest wordpress version. Just a reminder, if your home folder is set to chmod 777, then WPAU 1.2.5 will not ask you any ftp credential because your folder is already writable by the program. Before posting your image into your blog, you should resize and reduce the image size. This is important because larger image file will consume larger bandwidth and also make your blog slower in loading pages. When this happen, visitor will tend to run away from your web and also you SEO will also be impacted. If your blog is self host, resizing and reduce image dimension and size will be utmost thing that you should be practicing before uploading your image file.
Some blogger only update their blog using company pc or laptop where they can’t install their own software so this method is suitable to them. Anyone with internet browser can do this method. I prefer Mozilla Firefox because it has many useful plug-in.

Using your favorite internet browser and resizeyourimage.com, you can resize your image without using any other software. The step is simple, just upload the image file, edit it (rotate, crop) and slect the file format you want it to be whether png, gif or jpg. Today i open up my trusty Mozilla Firefox browser and voila, a new Google.com design suddenly catch-up my eyes. Google.com landing page is now have a background picture of a canyon as you see in this picture. Seem like it also can be customize to your desired background by using your Google account. Seem like a good design to me…
